Age Groups
Of course, it would be unfair to make an eight year old do the same distances as a sixteen year old, so there are different age categories in which each indivudal competes. This way you end up racing people your own age, gradually increasing the distances as you get older.
| Swim | Cycle (Grass) | Cycle (Tarmac) | Run | |
| TriStar Start | 50m | 800m | 1.5km | 600m |
| TriStar 1 | 150m | 2km | 4km | 1.2km |
| TriStar 2 | 200m | 4km | 6km | 1.8km |
| TriStar 3 | 300m | 6km | 8km | 2.4km |
| Youth | 400m |
However, it may not be how old you are now. It is the age you will be on Dcember 31st at the end of each year. For example, little Ted is 10 now, but his birthday is the 23rd of December, so he will be 11 by the end of the year, making him a TriStar 2.
These distances also differ depending on the variations of competitions. ie. Duathlons, Aquathlons, Sprints etc.
