Coaches
David Potter -
I have been involved in athletics all of my life competing at Club and Regional level as a junior but then at 10k for fun as a senior. I took up coaching when continual injuries suggested that I stop competing. I started my coaching career with Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers in North Yorkshire, where I started helping out when I couldn’t train. I enjoyed being able to help develop young athletes and the Club encouraged me to take a coaching qualification. I studied for this over two or three weekends at Leeds University. I qualified as a Club Coach and shortly afterwards I moved to Swindon and focused on my day job. I returned to coaching when I became too frustrated watching the athletes in Swindon Tridents and offered to help. I am also a regular coaching assistant at Swindon Harriers where I help coach sprints. I hope to renew my coaching qualification soon. I am CRB checked as are all of our coaching staff.
